Welcome guide

I am so excited to capture this special season of your life! Senior year is full of big moments, big dreams, and memories you’ll want to look back on for years to come. This guide is here to help you feel prepared, confident, and relaxed for your session. Inside you’ll find tips on what to wear, what to expect, and how we’ll make your senior photos feel authentic, fun, and completely you.

What to Expect During Your Session

Your senior session is meant to be relaxed, fun, and all about celebrating this exciting season of your life. Don’t worry if you’ve never had professional photos taken before — most seniors haven’t! I will guide you through everything from where to stand to how to pose so you never have to wonder what to do.

During the session, we’ll move around the location to find beautiful light and a variety of backgrounds. I’ll help you with natural posing, movement, and candid moments so your photos feel authentic and full of personality. The goal is for your images to look and feel like you.

Most sessions feel more like hanging out and exploring than a formal photoshoot. We’ll laugh, try different poses, and capture both natural smiles and relaxed moments along the way. By the end of the session, most seniors say they had way more fun than they expected!

What to wear

Choosing the right outfits can make a big difference in how your photos look and feel. The most important thing is to wear something that makes you feel confident and comfortable. When you feel good in what you’re wearing, it shows in your photos!

For most sessions, I recommend bringing 2–3 outfit options so we can create a variety of looks.

Some helpful tips when choosing outfits:

• Solid colors and simple patterns photograph best

• Avoid large logos or graphics on clothing

• Layers and textures (jackets, sweaters, flannels, denim) add interest

• Choose outfits that reflect your personality and style

• Neutral tones and soft colors photograph beautifully in natural light

Many seniors like to bring a mix of looks, such as:

• One casual outfit

• One dressy outfit

• One outfit that shows their personality or hobbies

If you're ever unsure about an outfit, feel free to bring it along! We can always decide together what will photograph best.

How to Feel Comfortable in Front of the Camera

Feeling a little nervous before your photos? That’s completely normal! Most seniors tell me they’re worried about posing or not knowing what to do, but you don’t need to stress about that at all. I will guide you through the entire session with natural poses, movement, and simple directions so you always feel comfortable and confident.

The best photos happen when you relax and just enjoy the moment. Don’t worry about being “perfect” — laughing, moving, and showing your personality always creates the most genuine images. Think of your session as a fun experience where we get to celebrate who you are during this exciting time in your life.

By the end of the session, most seniors say they actually had way more fun than they expected!
